Who is Haris Doukas?
Haris Doukas is the Mayor of Athens and a Professor of Energy and Environmental Policy at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
He was born in Athens on 12/05/1980. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and completed his doctoral dissertation at NTUA, focusing on decision systems for the promotion of renewable energy sources.
He is involved in the development of policies and strategies, with a focus on people.
Energy and the environment are the main fields of his activity, supporting the vision of sustainable energy and climate policies, with terms of participation and co-formation, so that the planned intervention becomes the “property” of all citizens.

His scientific and public work
The policy models he has developed have received significant recognition from the scientific community. They have been published in leading scientific journals and have been used in policy implementation for sustainable development at both national and international levels. In recent years, he is ranked among the top 2% of the most influential scientists in all fields worldwide, based on Harvard evaluations.
He has worked with many municipalities in Greece and abroad, developing action plans and interventions for energy and climate, energy efficiency, and the promotion of renewable energy sources, as well as the integration of information, communication, and Internet technologies. The systems he has developed support the mobilization of society and the implementation of sustainable actions through participatory schemes—these can generate cultural, social, and economic wealth that concerns all of us.
