The General Director is responsible for the smooth operation of the municipal services that constitute the General Directorate, and in particular for the organization, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of their operation. More specifically, the General Director:
- Directs the planning of activities and the corresponding action programs of the services, in cooperation with the Secretary General and the respective heads of services, so that they are aligned with the Municipality’s periodic objectives.
- Sets objectives, defines indicators and monitors the action plans of each Directorate under her responsibility.
- Prioritizes, reviews and approves the matters and actions of each Directorate.
- Ensures the appropriate organization of service resources (human resources, technical means, internal infrastructure, operating procedures, etc.) so that they can effectively and efficiently implement their activities and corresponding action programs.
- Coordinates the operation of the Administrative and Social Services, in cooperation with the respective heads.
- Monitors, reviews and evaluates the proper functioning of the services in relation to their activities and the achievement of their periodic action programs.
- Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of the resources of each Administrative and Social Service (human resources, technical means, etc.) and submits proposals for their reinforcement or performance improvement.
- May convene periodic or ad hoc Coordination Councils, in which all or part (depending on homogeneous thematic areas) of the Municipality’s services participate through their representatives.
- Signs documents in accordance with the document signature authorization system applied by the Municipality, concerning matters within the competence of the General Directorate.
- Represents the General Directorate, where required.
- Cooperates with the other General Directors of the Municipality and/or with other bodies, in order to ensure the most effective exercise of the competences of the General Directorate.
General Directorate Administrative Support Office
- Provides secretarial support to the Head of the General Directorate.
- Ensures the monitoring and handling of the correspondence of the Head of the General Directorate, maintaining the relevant protocol and archive.
- Schedules, organizes and arranges the meetings of the Head of the General Directorate.
- Ensures, through the Office correspondents, responsiveness to Electronic Governance systems (Electronic Document Management – CRM).
