Athens Cycling Tour

The Premier Cycling Event in Athens, the Athens Cycling Tour, organized by the Athens Municipality Organization of Culture, Sports & Youth (OPANDA), returns every spring to Syntagma Square inviting daring – and not only – cycling enthusiasts to take part. Participants can choose between the classic 5 km route and the extended 15 km route.

The Athens Cycling Tour continues to be a staple of the city’s sports calendar and an opportunity to promote and familiarize citizens with an eco-friendly mode of transportation. Cycling is associated with a healthier lifestyle, exercise, joy, wellness, and environmental awareness. For this reason, OPANDA encourages citizens to use bicycles for their daily commuting, following the example of other European cities.

Since 1987, the Athens Cycling Tour has been the largest cycling sports event in the city, with participation exceeding 15,000 cyclists. It is a significant event for Athens, as it highlights the city’s historical heritage through its route.
