Children’s Summer Camps

The Children’s Summer Camps of the Municipality of Athens are located in Agios Andreas, Attica, about 30 km from the center of Athens, in a pine-covered area of 180 acres where the mountain meets the sea.
They are considered among the best camps in the Balkans, both in terms of comfortable living—with modern sports facilities and infrastructure fully equipped according to contemporary European standards—and in terms of the safety of the campers.
For the year 2025, and across 4 sessions of 13 days each, the camps can host up to 800 children aged 6–12 per session and up to 100 children from associations of persons with disabilities (including their companions), as well as group leaders and supervisors. Throughout the year, the campgrounds are also made available to associations, sports clubs, schools, and delegations from European and Balkan countries for one-day or multi-day activities. During the 5th session, senior citizens who have reached the age of 62 are hosted.
Campers participate in a daily activity program that combines fun and entertainment with educational methods, creating opportunities for children to exercise both mind and body, logic and imagination. Thus, they take part in workshops such as Handicrafts, Painting, Collage, Clay, Constructions with Recyclable and Natural Materials, Theater Group, Music Group, Choir, Modern and Traditional Dances, Astronomy, Robotics, and Environmental Education Programs.
A Library also operates on site, with a large variety of books available for loan, allowing children—for example—to discover the secrets of theater and literature.
Numerous cultural events and performances (theatrical, musical, from cultural and traditional associations) are organized at the Agios Andreas camp. There is also an open-air cinema and a traffic education park. In terms of sports activities, the camp offers: Two swimming pools, a full-size football pitch (11 x 11, natural grass), basketball court, volleyball and beach volleyball courts, chess and table tennis. Sports tournaments are also held, with commemorative diplomas awarded to participants.
It should be noted that a special operational plan, “Themistocles”, has been developed to ensure the safe evacuation of the camp, allowing campers to leave the premises with complete safety in case of emergency.
