Supporting social cohesion and decisively combating poverty through a multi-faceted Social Policy is a priority for the Municipality of Athens. The meaningful empowerment of the most vulnerable and the reintegration of socially excluded citizens is achieved through modern management methods. This approach is characterized by respect, dignity, and transparency, allowing the Municipality to support vulnerable populations and reintegrate those excluded from society. The approach to citizens is holistic and respects the principle of non-discrimination based on gender, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, disability, or age.
To support social policy, the Municipality of Athens receives donations from a wide network of sponsors and implements European programs to strengthen existing structures and create new social service provision structures.
