Marriage Certificate
- Religious Marriage (performed within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Athens)
Required Documents:
- Completed marriage declaration form issued by the religious officiant who conducted the marriage, as prescribed by law
- Physical presence of one of the spouses, or a third party with a special notarial power of attorney
2.Civil Marriage (performed in the Municipality of Athens)
Required Documents:
- Completed marriage declaration form issued by the Mayor of Athens or the Deputy Mayor, as prescribed by law
- Physical presence of one of the spouses, or a third party with a special notarial power of attorney
If the marriage is declared more than 40 days after its performance, an e-fee of €30 must be paid. After 90 days, an e-fee of €60 must be paid.
*If a Civil Marriage has previously taken place in another municipality of Greece, the Religious Marriage must be registered in the municipality where the first marriage ceremony occurred
**If a Greek citizen’s marriage is performed abroad, the competent authority for registration is the Special Registry Office
3.Civil Partnership (for residents within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Athens)
Required Documents:Notarial deed of civil partnership, stating all details of the contracting parties as prescribed by law
